Peking duck is one of my perennial favourites, but I found out today that I have been eating it the wrong way! At TungLok Peking, 3 cuts of duck are served – the first is the skin alone, which is to be dipped into the plump sauce and popping candy. The second is sliced skin and meat in equal proportions, dipped in mustard sauce. The final is sliced skin and meat that is mostly meat – this third cut is to be wrapped in the crepe skin together with cucumber and other condiments of choice. Wow, this way of eating Peking duck is definitely more fun than what I’ve been doing previously! 😅 We also had the Australian lobster with eefu noodles which was superbly fresh, asparagus with macadamia nuts and a couple of dim sum (char siew buns and siew mai). Apart from the siew mai which was a little flat in taste and too salty, all the other dishes were tasty and dare I say it, worth the calories. 😜 I must commend Suan for her superb and dedicated service as well. She made our visit a rather delightful one and I look forward to returning again!

Had an amazing meal here. We ordered the Mapo Tofu and the Dang Gui Roast Duck and would highly recommend both. The skin of the duck was like glass, the meat was juicy and flavourful. For those who have been to Chen’s, the Mapo Tofu here definitely is a step above with more complex flavours. We were served by the wonderful Hui Hsuan and she made our experience here comfortable and relaxing. She was attentive and made sure to check on us every now and then. This is a luxury upscale Chinese restaurant and Shisen Hanten means 四川饭店 which relates to the Chinese cuisine it is serving. The restaurant was recently renovated, and the moment you step in there will be a wow effect. We were here for reunion dinner but skipped the CNY set meals and went for Ala carte instead. The staple Salmon Yusheng is a must have for the occasion and even the small size was too big for 2. We came here also for the Peking duck. My partner just came back from Beijing recently and she had high expectations for it, glad the Peking duck here did not disappoint her. The other dishes we ordered were their signature mapo tofu and we also order one soup each. The soup were simple, very similar to the type of cantonese soup that most family cooked for dinner at home. But of course the soup was pricey due to the high quality ingredients. We also enjoyed the tea and they really have an extensive tea selection that were sourced from different parts of China. Service was excellent, and the pace of the food served was perfect. To top it off, we were offered some packets of the tea we ordered to bring home to brew it ourselves. This was without asking. Such service just made the day even better.

For me, this is one of the best Chinese restaurants in Singapore: the food, the quality, the service. They are known for their Peking duck which is quite different from what we usually eat. The duck is well-seasoned with crispy skin and juicy fat and meat. It melts in your mouth. They showed us different ways to savor their peking duck with different sauce and sides. The sautéed vegetables are well made, perfectly cook with the script texture still. The staff is very attentive and informative. They make the restaurant whole vibe much better. The carrot cake was fabulous, extremely crispy and the inside of the carrot cake is flavourful. The pork ribs finger was absolutely crispy and well coated in the sauce. Crispy skin, tender and juicy cuts. The duck was not drowned in seasoning and spices to cover the gamey nature of it, but was mild and such a pleasure to eat. The fish was fresh (we had it steamed with superior soy) and the scallop and egg white in white truffle was a delightful little dish (although it didn’t look like much). The food and atmosphere here were really nice. We had Peking duck, roast pork, chicken, char siew, yang chow fried rice and a glutinous rice coconut dessert. Everything was tasty and well prepared. The staff were also very warm and attentive. Jasmine and Cinny looked after us well, and Emilia especially made our time here very enjoyable. She was friendly, easy to talk to and made sure all our requests were met, which added a very personal touch to the whole experience.

Other dishes taste pretty average here and price is on the higher side. Service is great though and the restaurant has a very nice Chinese decor. A very cosy and posh place for Chinese cuisine. Tried their famous Peking duck with caviar which made it really special. The duck skin was crispy and was nice to go with their original sauce. The fish maw soup was think with broth and the lobster with glass noodle was 👍. The fried noodles with duck meat was my fav with wok taste.

Came specially for the Peking duck, which was really melt-in-the-mouth good. The unique abalone tart in the dim sum wowed us too with how crumbly the tart was. Service was top notch as well. After the meal, it came with complimentary desserts that we really enjoyed.
