Janie
Personally, I think Adeline is one of the most solid vocal trainers you’ll probably be able to find in all of Singapore. I’m a musician who’s been having classes with this studio for 5 years now. Adeline is able to instantly triangulate her students’ weak spots and identify their strengths, which really prevents wastage of time and money that could come about from the process of testing and trialing different coaches. If it weren’t for Adeline’s coaching, consistent encouragement and constructive feedback, I would never have had been able to progress in my craft, let alone have the confidence to dare to venture into the singing opportunities/avenues I have now. If you want to grow in singing, don’t know where to start or even just need a session for consult, I 100% recommend giving this studio a shot!

Adeline Gan has been my vocal coach since 2023, and it’s not an overstatement to say that she is expertly versed in vocal theology and applied techniques. She has brought me to new levels of my singing potential that I previously never thought I would achieve in these ~3 years since. I now use her techniques for practice and during singing for my church’s cell group worship team. I highly recommend her to address your needs in giving feedback for your voice – every person is unique! Adeline is a nice, patient and loving in her coaching sessions with you ☺️

My daughter has been learning to sing with Coach Adeline for 5 years now. We have seen how much she has improved through the years and we are happy with how much my daughter enjoys her lessons every week. Coach Adeline has also helped my daughter to take vocal grading examinations and has more than sufficiently prepared her to pass her tests every time. I am very happy with the results that Coach Adeline has produced is looking forward seeing my daughter further progress in the years to come.

Narelle is professional, detailed, patient, and encouraging. I learned so much during my one-hour lesson yesterday. She is highly knowledgeable and truly inspires me to sing with greater depth and confidence by applying the right vocal techniques. I look forward to my next lesson with her!
Margaret Ng
I have really enjoyed my 4 months of singing lessons with Narelle! She taught me about the different vocal registers as well as vocal techniques with adaptations to suit my vocal range. What I also appreciate is how creative she is with her lessons—she often designs her own singing exercises (for us to practice), sometimes adapting popular songs to make it more interesting. Narelle will also help me to analyse the songs that I am keen to sing well, and advise me on the technique or style that I can use. This has definitely boosted my confidence in singing! Her positivity, encouragement and passion for teaching has made each lesson an enjoyable one! I will highly recommend Narelle to anyone looking to improve their singing!

Jared wouldn’t have come this far without vocal coach Narelle’s guidance. Jared started with very basic skills, but Coach Narelle patiently trained him from breathing techniques to tone, projection, and musical expression. In just 3 sessions of coaching, Jared was able to perform confidently and secure his DSA Choir spot. We are truly thankful and will always appreciate the role she played in Jared’s journey. Thank you once again, coach Narelle and God Bless! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

We’re so happy to have found such a professional music education center. Our child had lessons at other institutions before but didn’t make much progress. Here, they’ve learned so much. The teachers provide targeted training to improve pitch accuracy, which was a weakness for our child. It has been a truly wonderful experience.
Jenny Cheung
My boy Lucas has been a student at Voice of Company for some time now, and it’s been an incredible learning experience. One of the things we appreciate most is how the teacher tailors the vocal training to suit each student’s unique needs and goals. Whether you’re working on technique, confidence, or preparing for a specific performance, the approach is always personalised and effective. The teacher is not only highly skilled but also deeply experienced in both vocal technique and performance coaching. Their guidance has helped Lucas grow significantly as a singer and performer! I highly recommend Voice Company to anyone!

Today, Amara had a singing lesson with Rachel at VOCA Academy, and it was an amazing experience! Rachel’s teaching style is easy to understand, very detailed, and full of great tips. The way she guided Amara was both smart and inspiring, making the lesson enjoyable and effective. We truly hope that every time we come to Singapore, Amara can take lessons with Rachel again. Highly recommended!

Our daughter has been attending Voca academy for the past 6 months. We can see her pretty dramatic improvement in her singing capability and self confidence. From her passing interest initially, she now cannot wait to improve and looks forward to her singing lessons. Thanks to Teacher Rachel who is passionate with her students and able to help the students improve quickly by focusing on techniques and stage presence and correcting small nuances that helps greatly, but also not dwelling on the nitty gritty that deters the kids confidence. Amazing teacher highly recommend!
Joshua Chee
I’m so glad that I found Rachel and VOCA Academy! I used to sing a lot more when I was younger, but after many years, especially after COVID, I felt my voice had declined to the point where I felt I had lost the feeling of what it was like to sing with ease and freedom. But voice lessons with her have really helped me rediscover my best voice and learn to love singing again in such a short amount of time. She is the kind of teacher who both knows her stuff and sounds amazing herself at the same time and she is also super friendly and fun. If you love singing are looking for a voice teacher, Rachel is the real deal! 😀

Under Kenogi’s guidance and eagerness to impart knowledge, I have more control over my voice now. He debunked myths of common issues with singing which freed my voice instantly. He also builds a wonderful community where people who loves to sing come together to have fun and improve ourselves. Tbh, it’s pretty radical how the school is being run. Lessons don’t just end with me going back home alone figuring things out. There is a support group chat, workshops being held and group singing sessions to keep the passion alive. Therefore, I’m thankful to have found such a vibrant, fun and encouraging community! 😊
Sreshya Kamakshi Vishwanathan
Thank you Kenogi for an amazing first vocal coaching experience! I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember and from just the first 10 minutes, Kenogi could identify my problem and identify an effective solution as well. Seemingly simple visualizations that he asked me to do (e.g. singing in a crying intonation) actually helped so much to achieve the kind of comfort and “letting go” of my voice that I’ve always struggled with at my chest range. He did not just tell me to do a certain thing and expect me to follow, but he prescribed an exercise to help me fix the root cause of my problem – not having a strong enough voice with sufficient control – and with this I can work on my voice much more effectively. All in all I was astonished by how familiar he was with all the terminology and technical things, but could translate it in the best way for me to learn and take in. Thank you so much for the amazing trial lesson!
Nastasia JT
I’m really glad I went for the 80/20 class! And no regrets doing the demo. I had several take aways actually… I was squeezing my vocal chords the wrong way, I actually can sing high notes (now its how to make it sound nice) and how the vowels affect my ability to hold pitch. It was a really fruitful session with useful & practical tips that left me wanting to learn more. I would love to have sessions with Kenogi if it wasn’t for my current commitments. I will definitely rmb VE and consider going for lessons if my schedule frees up.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. I’m a total beginner with “no talent.” Can I actually learn to sing?
Absolutely. One of the biggest misconceptions is that singing is purely an innate gift. In reality, singing is a physical skill that involves coordinating muscles in your diaphragm, larynx, and face. Most vocal coaches in Singapore work with “non-singers” to develop pitch recognition and breath control. Just like going to the gym, your vocal cords can be trained to perform better through consistent “workouts.”
2. How much do vocal lessons typically cost in Singapore?
Prices vary depending on whether you choose a boutique music school, a community center class, or a private home tutor.
- Private 1-on-1 Lessons: Usually cost between $70 and $150 per hour, depending on the coach’s experience and seniority.
Many studios offer “trial lessons” at a discounted rate (often around $50–$80) so you can test the waters before committing to a 4-lesson or 12-lesson package. - Group Classes: Typically range from $30 to $60 per hour.
3. How long does it take before I start sounding better?
While everyone’s pace is different, most students see a noticeable difference in their vocal stamina and breath support within 1 to 3 months of weekly lessons.
- 3–6 months: Improved pitch accuracy and the ability to hit higher notes without straining.
- 9 months+: Development of “vocal agility” (runs and riffs) and a more unique, refined “tone.”
4. What actually happens during a typical 1-hour lesson?
A standard lesson is usually structured to maximize both technique and application:
- Physical Warm-up (5 mins): Stretching and posture alignment.
- Vocal Exercises (15-20 mins): Scale work, lip trills, and “sirens” to build range and strength.
- Song Work (30 mins): Applying techniques to a song of your choice (pop, jazz, musical theater, etc.).
- Cool-down/Feedback (5 mins): Reviewing what to practice at home.
5. Do I need to take exams like ABRSM or Trinity?
In Singapore, while classical and musical theater students often take graded exams, it is not mandatory. Many adult learners opt for “leisure” tracks where the focus is on contemporary pop songs or K-pop. If you want a certificate for your portfolio or a structured milestone, exams are great; otherwise, most coaches are happy to skip them.
6. Can vocal lessons help me with my “KTV voice” or stage fright?
Yes! Many Singaporeans specifically seek coaching to improve their karaoke game. Coaches work on “performance psychology,” teaching you how to manage the physical symptoms of anxiety (like a tight throat or shaky breath) so you can sing confidently in front of friends or a live audience.
7. Is there an age limit? Am I “too old” to start?
Never. While children’s voices are more flexible, adult voices are more “settled,” which can actually make certain technical concepts easier to grasp intellectually. Singapore has a thriving community of “silver” students and working professionals picking up singing as a hobby in their 40s, 50s, and beyond.
8. What is the difference between “Chest Voice” and “Head Voice”?
This is a common technical question during the first few lessons.
Head Voice: The higher, thinner register used for high notes. It often feels like it resonates in your sinuses or the back of your head.
A major goal of vocal lessons is finding your “Mixed Voice”—a blend of both that allows you to transition smoothly from low to high notes without a “crack.”
Chest Voice: The lower, thicker register you use when speaking. It feels like it vibrates in your chest.
9. Can I learn singing online, or must it be face-to-face?
The pandemic made online vocal lessons very popular in Singapore. While face-to-face is ideal for a coach to observe your posture and breathing in 3D, online lessons (via Zoom or Google Meet) are highly effective for pitch and tone work. The only catch is the slight audio lag, which usually means your coach can’t play the piano while you sing; you’ll typically sing along to a minus-one track on your end.
10. How do I choose the “right” coach for me?
Don’t just look at their certificates. Look for:
- Genre Specialisation: If you want to sing Mandopop, don’t go to a strictly Opera-focused teacher.
- The “Click”: Singing is vulnerable! You need to feel safe making “ugly” sounds in front of your coach.
- Demonstration: A good coach should be able to demonstrate the techniques they are asking you to perform.
