Went in blind and we were amazed! The food tasted beyond our expectations and honestly we will definitely be back again! It’s about $70 for 2 pax, and we can utilise our CDC vouchers here. Worth a short. The serving sizes are reasonable for the price and quality. 10/10

I recently dined at the lazy lizard (upper Thomson) and was genuinely impressed. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with attentive staff who made the experience even better. The highlight, of course, was the food—each dish was well-prepared, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The rack of pork stood out with its perfect balance of seasoning and texture. Portions were generous and priced reasonably. A great spot for both casual meals and special occasions. Highly recommended!

pleasantly surprised with the quality and portion of the food! The staff shared that the mains are american portion. I didnt take photos of the cheese baked oyster, but its worth a try, fresh oysters with delicious melted cheese. I loved my battered fish and chips, fried to a perfect golden, stayed crispy even after i drizzled the lemon over it.

Just had a late dinner here, surprisingly the food is really good, especially the salmon, and as cooked to perfection, the inside is tender and juicy, so is the chicken chop. Love the prawns too. Service by Sha was amazing, friendly and helpful, we wanted hot chocolate which was not in the menu, he helped us checked with the counter and offered us to order mocha without the coffee, works perfectly. Highly recommend here and would definitely visit again

The food here was great! Got 2 of the set lunches: Appetisers: Beef Tartare and Scallop Carpaccio. Mains: Iberico Pork and Pork Cheeks Paparadelle. Dessert: 2 x Pistachio Sicilian Cannoli. We made a reservation for a birthday lunch. Chin was our server and provided excellent service. She was extremely attentive, sharing her knowledge with us about the various dishes, telling us about the ingredients and their origin in Italian dining. Overall we had a really great time ◡̈

Bochiche Steak House & Bar is definitely worth a visit. The steak was tender and flavorful, and the beer excellent. Since I was dining alone, they kindly offered me just half a bread basket, a small gesture that made me feel genuinely cared for, and the bread was delicious and varied. The staff and the chef were both incredibly friendly. If I had one suggestion, it would be to make the steak knives a little sharper. Overall, a great experience, and I’ll surely come back.

G Lee
Had a sumptuous steak dinner. Ordered the 1.4kg with rump, sirloin and ribeye. I would suggest going for the ribeye medium rare. It really melts in your mouth. Had the octopus stew and bread basket too. If you are lucky, you get the cheese bread too. It comes in tiny morsels like mochi coated bread.

Kenny Yap
$35++ for lunch set which is actually just steak and chips, not really a lunch set. I went with the 200g sirloin and it was good. Probably worth it for the quality in case you’re craving steak for lunch and don’t want to spend a bomb. Chips came in 6 pieces but wasn’t the best. The inside was slightly harder than I would like. Not crowded when I went for Friday lunch without reservations.

First visit to The Boiler to celebrate my son’s birthday. We received a complimentary lobster (after they verified his IC) with our premium set. Symeon Chiam
Wonderful place for all your prime meat needs. Decided to dine on a well done ribeye steak and this place lived up to my happiness and provided me with a sense of satisfaction and completeness. Was not starving in case this would place a bias to my review. The staff were attentive, went above board with a bit of a twirl and dance to the rhythmic motion of mixing my salad, and served my food within an admirable time of less than 15-20 minutes of waiting. I was sat next to a view of orchard road, their window view, and that made it all the more pleasant since I did not make reservations.

Angie Chng
We walked in without reservation on a Friday evening. The place was half filled. Service was good and basically attentive. Some tables were slightly too close though, and you could hear other’s conversations. Numerous birthday celebrations held there, so they gave free cakes and you get to hear many rounds of birthday songs being sung. Food was scrumptious, the steak was good of course. Will not recommend the salmon though. Can definitely get better ones elsewhere. Salad was interesting. A little pricey.

Kelvin Chua
If you are celebrating your birthday here. Do remember to sign up their membership. U will also probably find diners all with similar zodiac or birthday with u. 1 dinner sitting n we heard 5 birthday songs. Food n service was fantastic. First time trying their skinny fries and it was good! For small eaters u might want to consider sharing 1 mains. Portion is really US size.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Casual Western food stalls in hawker centres and coffee shops are known for being one of the most value-for-money ways to enjoy Western-style meals in Singapore. Mains such as chicken chop, grilled fish, chicken cutlet, fish and chips, and pasta dishes usually range from $6 to $12, depending on the stall and portion size.

Some premium items like sirloin steak or mixed grills may cost slightly more, around $12 to $18, but still very affordable compared to restaurant prices. Despite being budget-friendly, portions are often generous, making these stalls popular among students, families, and office workers looking for a hearty meal without overspending.

Singapore-style Western food has its own distinct identity, shaped by local preferences and hawker culture.

  • Singapore-style Western Food:
    • Commonly served at hawker centres and kopitiams.
    • Features large portions of grilled or fried meats such as chicken chop, pork cutlet, chicken cutlet, or fish fillet.
    • Dishes usually come with classic sides like crinkle-cut fries, baked beans, coleslaw, garlic toast, or buttered corn.
    • Sauces like black pepper, mushroom, or brown gravy are standard and generously poured over the protein.
    • Presentation is straightforward, hearty, and familiar.
  • Authentic Western Cuisine:
    • Found in dedicated restaurants offering Italian, French, Spanish, American, or Australian cuisine.
    • Focuses on regional cooking techniques, premium ingredients, and plating aesthetics.
    • Meals may be multi-course with starters, mains, and desserts.
    • Sauces and cooking styles follow traditional methods, and flavours are generally more refined.
    • Dining ambience and service standards tend to be more upscale.

In short, Singapore-style Western food is comfort-driven and affordable, while authentic Western cuisine emphasises culinary tradition and restaurant quality.

Yes, set lunches and weekday promotions are very common, especially in business districts. Many Western restaurants in malls, office towers, and the CBD offer weekday lunch sets that include a soup or salad, a main course, and sometimes a drink or dessert—all at a discounted bundle price. These sets can range from $12.90 to $25, depending on the type of restaurant.

Some casual chains also offer “top-up” deals for sides or drinks during lunch hours. These promotions are designed to attract the office crowd and provide a more affordable dining option compared to regular à la carte prices.

Tipping is not customary in Singapore. Most full-service restaurants include a mandatory 10% service charge and 9% GST in the final bill. Because of this, diners generally do not leave extra tips. However, leaving a small tip or rounding up the bill is appreciated but completely optional—usually done only if the service was truly exceptional. In hawker centres and casual eateries, tipping is not practiced at all.

Singapore has several districts known for upscale Western cuisine:

  • Marina Bay Sands & Sentosa Resorts: Home to celebrity chef restaurants and luxury dining establishments.
  • CBD & Financial District (Raffles Place, Tanjong Pagar, Marina Bay): Many modern European and contemporary Western fine-dining restaurants are located within office towers and premium hotels.
  • Dempsey Hill: A lifestyle enclave filled with elegant, spacious restaurants offering European, American, and modern Western menus.
  • Raffles Hotel & Capitol area: Known for heritage buildings and refined dining concepts with a strong emphasis on culinary craftsmanship.
  • Keong Saik & Duxton Hill: Trendy neighbourhoods offering high-end modern European restaurants with a more intimate atmosphere.

These areas offer elevated ambience, premium ingredients, and exceptional service—ideal for celebrations or business dining.

For hawker stalls, coffee shops, and casual eateries, reservations are generally not needed because seating works on a first-come, first-served basis. However, for mid-range Western restaurants, popular café chains, and all fine-dining establishments, it is highly recommended to make a reservation for Friday and Saturday nights. Weekends tend to be busy, especially in popular dining districts and malls, so reserving a table helps avoid long waiting times or fully-booked situations.

Singapore’s food scene embraces creativity, and Western fusion dishes are widely loved for their blend of familiar Western formats with Asian flavours. Popular examples include:

  • Salted Egg Yolk Pasta, Risotto, or Chicken Chop
  • Chilli Crab Pasta or seafood linguine with spicy local sauces
  • Laksa Cream Pasta with coconut-based sauce
  • Asian-inspired burgers such as sambal chicken burgers or teriyaki beef burgers
  • Pizzas topped with ingredients like rendang, satay, or mala chicken
  • Truffle-infused Asian dishes, combining Western ingredients with Asian-style noodles or rice

These dishes reflect Singapore’s multicultural palate and offer something fun, bold, and familiar all at once.

Yes—Singapore’s Western dining scene has become more inclusive in recent years. Most modern Western restaurants now offer:

  • At least one or two vegetarian options (e.g., mushroom aglio olio, vegetable risotto, plant-based burgers).
  • Vegan-friendly dishes, although availability varies by restaurant.
  • Halal-certified Western eateries, especially popular chains—though certification must be checked individually.
  • Many restaurants also accommodate dietary preferences upon request, such as removing dairy or substituting sides.

The demand for plant-based and halal options has been growing steadily, so choices are much broader today.

Dress codes depend on the type of establishment:

  • Hawker & Coffee Shop Western Stalls: Casual—shorts, slippers, and t-shirts are perfectly acceptable.
  • Café-style or Mid-range Western Restaurants: Smart casual—think dresses, skirts, polo shirts, or jeans with clean footwear.
  • Fine Dining or Luxury Western Restaurants: Formal or semi-formal—long pants, covered shoes, collared shirts, and in some cases, jackets. Some high-end venues may refuse entry if guests are underdressed.

It’s always best to check the restaurant’s website or reservation page for any specific dress restrictions.

The two may appear similar but differ significantly in focus, quality, and price.

  • Western Grill:
    • More casual and accessible.
    • Offers a wide variety of meats like chicken, pork, fish, and sometimes basic steaks.
    • Prices usually range from S$10 to S$25.
    • Emphasis is on home-style comfort rather than premium cuts.
    • Often located in malls, kopitiams, or family-friendly restaurants.
  • Steakhouse:
    • More premium, specialised dining experience.
    • Focuses heavily on high-quality beef cuts such as wagyu, USDA prime, or dry-aged beef.
    • Prices can range from S$40 to over S$150 per steak depending on grade and cut.
    • Often offers curated wine lists, formal service, and a more elegant atmosphere.
    • Emphasis is on technique, doneness accuracy, and sourcing of meat.

In short: Western Grill = casual variety; Steakhouse = premium beef-focused experience.
