Swiss Club has its own hotel, club house, and its facilities. You can ride the shuttle bus if you are a member, a staff or a hotel guest. Other than that, it is better to order a taxi. It is over 20 minutes walk from King Albert MRT station (Downtown line). The restaurant and bar are for their members. The public can enter if there is the club’s open house or a special event. Enjoy raclete cheese here!

The Swissclub’s night scene is fantastic. Excellent architecture and the use of red and white lighting created a unique atmosphere.

Top club in terms of family-friendliness. Lots of kids activities including our favourite movie night. Food is good enough to host friends. Arbenz actually has pretty good steak and you can bring your own bottles. Overall it’s a pretty nice place to hang out with friends and neighbours, and make Sundays without helper a lot easier.

I recently attended a wedding at The British Club, and I was genuinely impressed. The facilities are beautiful and well maintained — the perfect setting for a special occasion. What stood out even more was the exceptional service from the staff. They were attentive, friendly, and went the extra mile to make everything run smoothly. A truly memorable experience. 👏✨
Brandon Lee
Great onboarding experience from Derrick and Warren who gave me the assurance to sign up as a member. They understood exactly what I valued as a dad with a young family and brought out the benefits of the club well. Just in the past week we’ve alr brought friends and family and everyone has enjoyed their time at the club. We’ve only had the opportunity to try Windsor and verandah so far but Look forward to trying moubtbatten too. The only pity is that kids under 8 are not allowed 🙁 I’d also like to call out the wonderful service and attention to detail or Raja and Shan at Verandah and the warm service from the staff at the kids room when they did an activity there today!

Had a lovely time at Le Mainson. We came here from a reciprocal club in Australia and what a warm welcome. If you’re part of a club that does repricing membership rights it’s a must to have a meal or look in. Food was great. Service was great and staff were great. Wine selection was on point as well.

My dad always brings us to the cafe next to the pool. Good food and good time. Love the seafood mee goreng. In fact almost all the dishes are good. Staff are friendly and attentive too.

Go there mainly for their food and drink. The staffs are really friendly, helpful and full of initiative. So far I’ve really enjoyed their food in all the food chains inside.

I’m a member. The place is truly a home away from home. Union bar is low key & perfect. Away from the trending Singapore night life. So, is the Chinese restaurant on second floor. Recommend for families.

This is my second home. The food is amazing. Love the gym and facilities but the best part? The staff. Many of them have been there for DECADES! Always welcoming and friendly.

Great ambiance in a small island country of Singapore with high density population. Not easy to maintain a country club at value for money club like this. Great sunset view at a higher land, spacious, and a great location to “wine” down after a day’s work.

A beautiful country club with good food, good facilities, beautiful landscape and sunset.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. Is buying a country club membership still considered a good financial investment in Singapore?
Historically, a club membership was one of the “5 Cs” and often appreciated in value. However, in the current landscape, it is rarely considered a sound financial investment for capital appreciation. Prices for many clubs have softened due to shortening land leases and changing lifestyle preferences among the younger generation.
Most financial experts now advise viewing a membership as a “consumption” purchase—something you buy for lifestyle, networking, and enjoyment—rather than an asset you expect to sell for a profit later.
2. What happens to my membership value if the club’s land lease is expiring soon?
This is a major concern for many prospective buyers. In Singapore, most private clubs sit on government land with specific lease tenures (often 30 or 60 years). As the lease expiry date approaches (with many significant deadlines coming up between 2030 and 2040), the market value of the membership typically depreciates toward zero, similar to how a leasehold property behaves.
If the government decides not to renew the lease—or renews it for a much smaller plot—the membership may become void or significantly devalued. It is crucial to check the remaining lease tenure before committing.
3. What is the difference between a “Term Membership” and a “Transferable Membership”?
A Transferable Membership is the traditional model where you “own” a share of the club. You pay a high upfront entrance fee, have voting rights, and can sell (transfer) the membership to someone else later on the open market.
A Term Membership is essentially a rental agreement. You pay a set fee to join for a fixed period (usually 1 to 5 years). It usually costs significantly less upfront, has no transfer value (you cannot sell it), and typically offers no voting rights. Term memberships are increasingly popular for expats or locals who want to try out the club lifestyle without the risk of holding a depreciating asset.
4. Are there “hidden costs” I should be aware of beyond the entrance fee?
Yes, the entrance fee is just the ticket to get in. You must budget for the Monthly Subscription Fee (often hundreds of dollars), which is payable even if you don’t visit the club. Additionally, many clubs have a Minimum Spending Levy (e.g., $50–$100 per month) on food and beverages; if you don’t spend it, you are charged anyway. Golfers also face buggy fees, caddy fees, and insurance.
Finally, if you buy a transferable membership, there is usually a “Transfer Fee” payable to the club to process the transaction, which can be several thousand dollars.
5. Can I join a country club if I don’t play golf?
Absolutely. Most clubs have introduced “Social” or “Lifestyle” memberships specifically for non-golfers. These memberships are significantly cheaper than full golfing memberships and grant access to all other facilities, such as the swimming pool, gym, tennis courts, mahjong rooms, and dining outlets. It is a popular option for families who want a private weekend hangout spot without paying the premium for golf course maintenance.
6. How strictly are “market prices” for memberships regulated?
Membership prices on the open market are not regulated by the clubs; they are determined purely by supply and demand. This creates a volatile market where prices can fluctuate based on economic sentiment or news about land lease renewals.
However, the club management usually controls the Transfer Fee (the admin fee to process the sale). Some buyers use specialized membership brokers to find the best market price, while others buy directly from friends or online listings to save on broker commissions.
7. Can my spouse and children use the club facilities if I am the main member?
In most cases, yes, but with conditions. A “Principal Member” can usually sign up their spouse and children (usually under 21 years old) as “Supplementary Members.” They generally get their own membership cards and access to facilities.
However, some clubs may restrict the times children can use certain facilities (like the gym or golf course) or require a small additional monthly fee for family access. Once children pass the age limit, they are typically removed from the family account and must buy their own membership, sometimes at a discounted “legacy” rate.
8. Is it difficult to sell my membership if I want to exit?
Liquidity can be an issue. Unlike selling a stock, selling a club membership can take weeks or months. You need to find a willing buyer who meets the club’s entry criteria (e.g., citizenship or professional standing). Furthermore, the club committee has the final say in approving the transfer.
If the club has a long list of members trying to sell and very few buyers, you may be forced to lower your asking price significantly to exit.
9. Why do some clubs require a “Proposer” and “Seconder” for the application?
This is a legacy of the traditional “private club” culture designed to ensure new members fit the club’s social profile. The application requires two existing members to vouch for your character. While this sounds exclusive, many clubs have relaxed this enforcement practically.
If you don’t know anyone at the club, the membership department can often introduce you to committee members who can act as your proposer and seconder after a brief interview or “meet-and-greet” session.
10. Is a country club membership worth it compared to condo facilities or public alternatives?
This depends on your usage intensity. If you live in a condominium with a great pool and gym, a social club membership might be redundant. However, country clubs offer scale and availability—Olympic-sized pools that are less crowded, more tennis courts, and specialized facilities like bowling alleys or squash courts that condos rarely have. For golfers, private clubs offer the ability to book tee times more easily compared to the extremely crowded public courses. If you use the facilities weekly, the cost often justifies the exclusivity and convenience.
