Ewe Keat Huan
Ya Hua Bak Kut Teh is a popular Singaporean restaurant specializing in Bak Kut Teh, a traditional Chinese dish originating from the Teochew community. Based on your order, here’s a description of your experience:
– Premium Rib Bak Kut Teh: A signature dish made with tender and flavorful pork ribs slow-cooked in a rich and savory broth, infused with a blend of herbs and spices. The ribs were likely fall-off-the-bone tender, and the broth was rich and comforting.
– Braised Pork Leg: A classic Chinese dish made by slow-cooking pork leg in a mixture of soy sauce, sugar, and spices, resulting in tender and flavorful meat that easily falls apart. The pork leg was probably melt-in-your-mouth tender, with a rich and caramelized sauce.
– Salted Marinated Veggies: A side dish made with a variety of vegetables marinated in a savory salted mixture, adding a nice contrast in texture and flavor to the rich and meaty dishes.
Overall, your experience at Ya Hua Bak Kut Teh was likely a satisfying and delicious journey through traditional Chinese cuisine, with each dish expertly prepared and full of flavor. The restaurant’s focus on quality ingredients and traditional cooking methods shines through in every bite!

Updated March 2024. Came here again after some time and standards have remained. Delicious pig trotters that is not overly salty. Very tender meat, love that you can choose between lean and fat portions. I love the lean and it has lots of meaty bites but still has a thick layer of collagen and fat. Soup was pepperish and warming for a cold rainy day. Lovely service staff. Friendly and inviting crew. Despite dining alone, I was still given a relatively large table, and they ensured I had enough chili and even gave me a free bowl of BKT soup. I ordered the braised vinegar pork trotters. Love the fact that there was an option for lean meat. The braised sauce was savoury and delicious. The meat was succulent and tender. The fatty collagen bits will just disintegrate in your mouth. So yummy.

Excellent place for bah kut teh! Best in town. Ordered some sides and the taste and quality is by far still excellent and had not dropped in its standards. Was here around 1230pm and still managed to find a table for 10!

2. Ng Ah Sio Bak Kut Teh

Among the best Bak Kut Teh in Singapore, Ng Ah Sio Bak Kut Teh is a hidden gem. Their soup, which is made with pepper and garlic and has a distinct local flavour, goes exceptionally well with rice and youtiao. Their ribs have remarkable softness and a delicious taste that pulls away from the bone with ease. Their menu features uncommon things like soft bones and small intestines, guaranteeing a unique dining experience. The self-serve condiment bar and free-flowing soup contribute to the allure, despite the somewhat uneven service. Among Singapore’s best Bak Kut Teh locations, Ng Ah Sio has earned its spot.

We have not tried Ng Ah Sio Bak Kut Teh before, so since it has opened an outlet at Clarke Quay Central, we thought we would give it a try. We ordered the Blanched Sliced Pork Soup, Pork Spare Ribs & Soft Bone Soup, Braised Small Intestines, Braised Bean Curd Skin, and Blanched Xiao Bai Cai. The soup was as expected, a true blue local BKT. I absolutely loved the soft bones! The side dishes were great as well, especially considering it’s been difficult to find small intestines in BKT restaurants these days. They served us Braised Pork Skin instead of the Bean Curd Skin, so I took a picture to show you how it looked like. LOL. They got it replaced, of course. Overall, it was a good meal. Service was a little inconsistent depending on who happened to be near your table. But we were grateful we could get unlimited servings of soup.
Charis
Queue was 25 mins at lunch time on a Saturday. The soup was delicious, more garlicky vs the other BKT chains but equally peppery. I really enjoyed having fresh soup top ups from the stove placed between the tables. The prime spare ribs were really tasty and fell off the bone easily.
Elaina Poh
They have made it to my top bak kut teh in Singapore! Their soup based are toward pepper and garlic. Also, their soup is free flow refill!!! It goes so well with the rice and youtiao. The tenderness of the rib, just a gentle bite it easily rips off from the rib. They even have condiment bar counter, you mayself serve with the garlic, chilli’s and more.

Words cannot describe this wonderful dishes. All I can say, take yourself here & experience the high quality pork soup. There always a queue, better to come before lunch or dinner time.
Lawrence Chen
It’s just amazing how the dishes are cooked and served, and the taste is beyond words! Don’t get confused when they refill the soup, it’s one of the specialty I guess, you can have the soup as much as you can haha.
Phang Ee Zheng
The pork ribs strike a perfect balance – not overly tough nor too tender. Surprisingly generous portions of pork stomach add a delightful twist. The crispy youtiao, when dipped into the pork rib soup, create a satisfying combination. The salted vegetables contribute just the right amount of savory goodness without being overly salty. I thoroughly enjoyed the well-balanced flavors, and the generous portions exceeded my expectations. Definitely looking forward to coming back for more.

The premium rib is super tender and comes off the bone easily. The broth is very flavorful and peppery but slightly salty for my palate. The youtiao, omg is da bomb. Freshly fried and super crunchy, dipped in the broth, perfect! Muah chee was also super good, very soft and the peanut/sesame has some umami to it.

It has been a while since my last review and the urge of writing a review for restaurant. Old school atmosphere, as if like you are somewhere in Malaysia, clean and old school toilet as well. Food Menus are all on the wall and feel like ordering all of them tonight but we only have 2 pax. Lol. Personal favorite is the Claypot Vermicelli Prawn. They have 4 big and fresh prawns with shaoxing wine. Definitely will come back again for the rest on the menu. Thank you!
Daryl Nonis
Nice old school place to get some good old Bak Koot Teh. Especially on a cold rainy day. This claypot version are much more herbal then the usual pepper version and the meat was soft and tender. Melts in your mouth and it came off the bone easy. Try their side dishes but expect to wait as they seem short on staff. But it’s worth the wait. Visually nothing wrong but could use a few upgrades.

Updated 25 March 2024: Ordered bak kut teh, whole braised egg and a bowl of yam rice – total $4.50! Fantastic, tasty soup and succulent meat. Updated on 24 June 2023: Tried the Bak kut teh (large size) with yam rice, total $6. The Bak kut teh soup was peppery and truly awesome. The yam rice tasted good too. Totally worth it! The pork ribs were cooked finely except for 1 to 2 pieces that were too bony with little meat. Highly recommended if anyone happens to be near ABC Brickwork Market. Fantastic! Trotter at $3.50 , that’s a steal. For the same portion size, it easily costs more elsewhere. It tastes good. Even the pork rib Bak kut teh is also $3.50 {Will try it next time I’m here} . Wonder if the stall made any decent profit if you take recent inflation into account. Thanks Hua Shun Bak Ku Teh for the sumptuous trotter.

Ordered kway chap. Coming with a bowl of kway for $4, they serve a generous amount of food. Tasted very nice, I love how it is not on a sweet side. Goes well with chili padi for a kick. Next time, I must try other dishes on the menu. Seems quite popular among residents here.

Soup is robust and peppery, with a wee bit of nutty taste at the end, which was a pleasant surprise. Braised pork belly was decadent and not overly salty. meat can be separated with chopsticks, the fats just melts in your mouth. Rib cuts were not the best, so it was a little dry due to the lack of fatty bits but the cook of it was great, they were fall-off-the-bone tender. At this price point, every dish exceeded expectations.

Dined here a few times. It was love at first taste for their braised pork trotters, so much so that I may take-away another one for lunch the next day 😋 Their bkt peppery soup is not bad, self-service refill when dining in, but not smt that I’d go out of the way for. Prices are very reasonable 🥹 Kopitiam is clean and full of diners of this stall haha. Need to find a table first before ordering as they will serve to your table. Best to go early as some items will sell out.
