Binary Style has one of the most Singapore themed scarves and they are great for gifts, especially friends who have lived here for years and leaving Singapore. Once I gave a friend a “Botanic Garden” scarf to a friend moving back to US. She absolutely loved it as she walks weekly around Botanic Garden. And another friend the Tiong Bahru scarf as she loves the Tiong Bahru market. There are other fashion accessories like fans, handbags and clothing. They recently moved their boutique to Keong Saik road which is near Chinatown and Tanjong Pagar.

I love the attention to detail, drape of lyocell fabric on the Maryanne dress! As a textile artist, I really appreciate the use of French seams instead of simply overlocking the underside of the dress which adds so many more years to the wearable life of the piece. In fact I accidentally snagged a few stitches on the shoulder and am so thankful for the finishing, I did not have a wardrobe malfunction. I look forward to more designs prints in this dress format, will definitely be getting more!

Each piece curated for you to try on, by the designer himself, who would share as much or as little detail about the piece as you’d like? Check. Impeccable, world-class service from Pino, the owner and designer of DGA Threads, that would put shopping experiences at tier-one designer-houses on Orchard Rd to shame? Check. While the pieces are not inexpensive, you know you will pay for one of a kind, never to be repeated again, works of art that were lovingly paper-traced, cut and sewn in the atelier in Singapore. The designs range from casual contemporary to gala-night level elegance, but never broaching gaudy or ostentatious. I’ve worn DGA’s pieces at numerous occasions and have only ever received compliments for how unique and well made the articles were. Pino is also never pushy for a sale, and you can trust he has your best intentions at heart when he tells you with full candour, that the piece doesn’t suit you!
