Took two courses with instructor Minju Kim from @wojoos_planet at @nanatangbakes over the weekend. Thoroughly enjoyed myself making these super cute and nutritious bakes for my dogs! Must really credit and thank our instructor Minju who was soooo patient and encouraging with clear instructions, tips and demonstrations, that even I who hasn’t baked in many years can make these cuties. And many thanks to Serena and her staff too, for their ready assistance and conducive learning environment 🙏🏻 🙏🏻 ❤️❤️💪🏻💪🏻 Highly recommend Minju’s classes; we were all tired by the end of the day, but really learned a lot and happy to bring home the goodies to our furries who were overjoyed and very appreciative ❤️❤️🐾🐾

Wonderful 1st time lesson with Instructor Ms Serena Tang on gluten free Dacquoise cookies! End product is pretty exquisite with nice packaging, totally looks store bought! Initial registration and payment was smooth and easy online, class duration not too long or tiring, recipe size is perfect for 1 person portion. Every one gets to hands on, no need to share. Truly hands on experience, highly recommend. I will definitely sign up for more future classes.

Sharon Khoo
It was one of the best baking class I had attended so far. For me the taste of the final product is important. And my family members and neighbours had rated the finishing product to be best of best. Product not only looks good it also tastes good. Is so sad that nanatang is coming to the end of their journey. I sincerely wish them all the success in their future projects ahead. Lastly thank you again for conducting the vegan baking class. 🌷🌷🌷❤️👍

Margaret Ang
Attended the beginner sourdough bake. Well equipped and nice baking environment in Karen’s basement kitchen. Session starts from 9am to 2pm. Karen explained well and professional. Our bakes turned out pretty and yummy although it was a hybrid sourdough, Karen sells the Murasaki Botan flour and some baking tools. The flour is really nice and light crisp. Will recommend to anyone who wants to learn to bake from scratch.

Bevan Oh
Went for their Beginner Sourdough Class. We enjoyed the class conducted by Karen in her home basement baking studio. Her studio is nicely equipped and comfortable. Her instructions are clear and concise, coupled with great advice from her experience as a professional baker. I particularly like her post-class “service”, offering advice and help from herself and a strong community of bakers for any queries you may come upon as a new baker. Highly recommend for any new/novice bakers.

Jess Lim
I had such a great time at the bread-making session! I actually came back for this class after really enjoying the sourdough class with Karen—and once again, it didn’t disappoint. The small group size (just five of us) made the experience super personal. Joyce, our instructor, was amazing—funny, approachable, and so generous with her tips. She shared so much practical advice without holding anything back, which made the process feel really doable. We learned how to make pretzels and bagels, and I loved both! The hands-on part was fun, and Joyce’s clear guidance helped everything turn out great. I left feeling confident and inspired to keep baking at home. Highly recommend!

TheGirlCo’s Recommendation

Choosing the right baking class in Singapore really depends on what kind of experience you’re craving. Some women want a cosy, therapeutic escape after a stressful work week. Others want structured learning that actually builds long-term skill and confidence. And for some, baking is not just a hobby, it is a potential side hustle or career goal.

To make your decision easier, here are our top five picks based on what you might be looking for, whether it is creativity, comfort, professional development, or simply a fun day out with your girlfriends.

1. If you want trend-forward bakes and world-class exposure

Our pick: Nanatang

Nanatang is perfect for women who love baking trends, pretty aesthetics, and learning the “real techniques” behind viral desserts. If you have ever saved Korean-style cakes or delicate choux pastries on Instagram and thought, “I wish I could make that,” this is the studio that makes it possible.

What truly sets Nanatang apart is its strong reputation for hosting exclusive masterclasses with internationally recognised pastry chefs, giving you rare opportunities to learn directly from professionals who are shaping the global baking scene. The studio also feels stylish and uplifting, making the whole experience feel like a creative self-care date rather than a formal lesson.

It is ideal if you want baking to feel exciting, inspiring, and slightly luxurious, especially if you enjoy the idea of collecting certificates, learning niche techniques, and walking away with bakes that look genuinely café-worthy.

2. If you’re starting from scratch and want gentle, confidence-building guidance

Our pick: JusBaking Baking Class

JusBaking is one of the best beginner-friendly baking studios in Singapore because it feels calm, supportive, and refreshingly non-intimidating. If you are the type of woman who loves the idea of baking but gets overwhelmed by complicated steps or technical jargon, this is where you will feel safe to learn.

Classes are structured in a way that makes everything feel doable, with clear explanations and a warm teaching style that encourages questions. You will not feel rushed or judged, even if you are baking for the very first time.

3. If you’re serious about skill-building with funding support

Our pick: Grà Baking Academy

If your goal is to properly learn baking techniques instead of just “following recipes,” Grà Baking Academy is one of the most practical choices on this list. Their classes are structured and skill-focused, which is perfect for women who want to improve steadily and understand the foundations of baking.

A major USP is that Grà offers WSQ SkillsFuture-supported courses, which makes professional-level learning much more accessible. This is especially appealing if you have ever considered turning baking into a side hustle, home business, or even a longer-term career move.

Beyond the funding support, their instructors are known for being patient and encouraging, which makes the academy feel supportive rather than overly strict. It is a great option if you want a balance of nurturing energy and proper technical development.

4. If you want a professional culinary school experience with strong technique

Our pick: Palate Sensations Culinary School

Palate Sensations is ideal for women who want to learn in a more professional environment, especially if you are the type who enjoys structured learning and wants to master technique properly. Unlike some hobby-style workshops, classes here go deeper into the “why” behind baking, so you gain knowledge that sticks with you long-term.

The studio is equipped with high-quality tools and professional-grade facilities, which makes the experience feel polished and inspiring. You also get access to a wide range of modular programmes, so you can build your skills step-by-step instead of only attending one-off lessons.

This is a great pick for women who enjoy a more serious learning atmosphere, or those who want to feel like they are genuinely training and levelling up. If you are someone who dreams of baking consistently good bread, pastries, and cakes without relying on luck, Palate Sensations is a strong investment.

5. If you want a “girls’ day out” baking experience that’s fun, aesthetic, and beginner-friendly

Our pick: BELLS Baking Studio @ Suntec City

If you want a baking class that feels like a lifestyle experience, BELLS Baking Studio is a standout. Located conveniently in Suntec City, it is perfect for women who want to plan a cute weekend activity with friends, especially if you love bright, modern studio spaces that feel Instagram-worthy.

What makes BELLS appealing is its strong combination of structured teaching and comfortable learning vibes. Each participant gets their own workstation, so you can fully immerse yourself in the process without feeling like you are fighting for space or tools.

Final Thoughts

Whether you’re drawn to elegant pastries, hearty breads, or playful celebration cakes, the right baking class can nurture both skill and self-belief. These studios offer more than instruction; they provide safe, inspiring spaces where women can create, connect, and grow at their own rhythm.

If this list has sparked a deeper curiosity about the culinary world, consider exploring the best cooking classes in Singapore as well. Expanding beyond baking can help you build a truly well-rounded kitchen skillset—one that nourishes creativity, confidence, and joy for years to come.

You can use your SkillsFuture Credit to offset the cost of WSQ-certified (Workforce Skills Qualifications) courses. These usually cover technical skills like bread making, cake decoration, or pastry preparation. Always check if the specific course is “SkillsFuture Credit Claimable” on the training provider’s website or the MySkillsFuture portal.

While many commercial baking studios are not officially Halal-certified by MUIS (due to the high cost of certification for small studios), many operate as “Muslim-friendly.” This means they use Halal-certified ingredients and ensure no pork or lard is used in the recipes. If you require a strictly Halal-certified environment, you should specifically look for schools that display the MUIS Halal certificate on their premises.

In Singapore, most schools provide all the ingredients and equipment needed. However, policies on takeaway containers vary. To be eco-friendly, many studios now encourage students to “BYO” (Bring Your Own) containers to bring home their creations. Some may charge a small fee (e.g., $1–$2) for plastic boxes or cake boards if you don’t bring your own.

Demonstration: You watch the chef bake and take notes. You usually get a tasting portion at the end. These are often cheaper and shorter.

Hands-on: You get your own station (or share with a partner) and do the mixing, kneading, and baking yourself. This is the preferred method for Singaporeans looking to master a specific skill like sourdough or macarons.

Absolutely. Most studios offer “Beginner” or “Level 1” workshops. Instructors in Singapore are well-versed in guiding “newbies,” covering basics like how to properly cream butter or the difference between top heat and bottom heat in an oven. Look for classes labeled “no experience required.”

Safety and hygiene are priorities in Singaporean kitchens. You should wear:

  • Closed-toe shoes: To protect your feet from falling heavy equipment or hot liquids.
  • Short sleeves or fitted tops: To prevent sleeves from dipping into batter or catching fire.
  • Tied-back hair: Most studios will provide a hairnet or apron, but it’s best to come prepared.

Yes, many studios offer “Junior Baker” or “Parent-Child Bonding” sessions. These are usually shorter (around 1.5 to 2 hours) and focus on fun activities like decorating cupcakes or shaping cookies. The minimum age for children is typically around 5 to 7 years old.

Refund policies in Singapore are generally quite strict. Most studios do not offer cash refunds but may allow a one-time rescheduling if you notify them 3 to 7 days in advance. “No-shows” usually result in the forfeiture of the full course fee.

Experienced local instructors often share tips on how to handle Singapore’s high humidity, which can be a nightmare for meringue, macarons, and bread dough. They might teach you how to adjust water ratios or use specific storage techniques (like airtight containers or de-humidifiers) to keep your bakes fresh in our tropical climate.

Many studios offer private bookings for groups of 8 to 20 people. This is a popular option for corporate team-building or bridal showers. You can often choose a specific theme, such as “Korean Bento Cakes” or “Artisanal Tarts,” and have the entire studio to yourselves.
