A great place for an artistic and quiet walk. Ticket price is cheap. Make sure you have enough energy to do all the foot work as there are 6 floors in total and it took me around 4 hours to finish visiting all the exhibitions.

Definitely a place to be added on your itinerary when visiting Singapore. A place for kids to enjoy and for kids at heart too! 😹 Interactive art displays and more! **1-2 hours is enough to see the whole place (if not crowded). Pro tip: Go during opening hours – less people so you can enjoy the activities without waiting in line. Also there’s a coffee shop at the entrance. 😊

This was a spontaneous stop for us on our trip in Singapore, and I’m so glad we did! It was extremely fun. You can buy tickets at the self-service kiosk. It accepts credit card, and is very easy to use. There’s air conditioning, which is a huge plus. We spent around 3hrs here because the exhibits were so much fun. They are interactive with colorful lights/VR experience. Great for kids, of course, but my parents who are almost 60, had a blast too. Lots of people of all ages spent a great deal of time sitting down to draw and color, then watch their creations come to life, flying and swimming in the walls. Highly recommend visiting!

Amy N
We had such an amazing experience at the museum. There was plenty to do for both kids and adults, would recommend going in the morning when it is less crowded. If you plan on getting the combo tickets for Digital Light Canvas, you have to buy it through their official site as the discount is not applied with third party sites.

Absolutely worth the money going here. It was super informational and educational. The history of Singapore was easy to follow with great layout and information boards. We also saw groups of schoolgirls sat on the floor with different teachers passionately education them about a person/topic. It was nice to see them being so attentive.

Yến Nhi Nguyễn (Annie)

The layout of the museum is wonderful and the experience is top of the world. The fee is 15 SGD and it totally worths money and time. Absolutely love it and will recommend to anyone.

Boonsita Roengsamut
Time well spent here! Good settings in museum allowing you to walk through time when Singapore was called something else as a nation and how it becomes Singapore like we see today. Like the quote saying “A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots.”

Absolutely loved spending time here! I love spending time looking at all the intricate details on the collection of impressive artifacts. Definitely recommend coming early when less people are around to fully enjoy your visit. A lot of my favorite pieces were also director picks too, who would have guessed!

In Dri
I enjoyed my time visiting this museum. It has amazing collections!! I love the ancient and religions section the most, the room was dim but with great spotlight it showcases the collection so well I love taking a moment to stare at the collections. I also love the jewelry section, some of it is interactive where I can take a look closely about the jewelry in detail. They give you a map and recommend the section you can visit in row.

Jie Lu
The museum feels much bigger than it looks from the outside. It offers great exhibitions on different religions, maritime, pottery, jewellery etc. The special pagoda Odyssey exhibition on 31 May and 1 June 2024 was very well organised too. There was also VR experience of visitor going into a pagoda and riding a dragon. Loved it.

This stunning art gallery in Singapore houses an intriguing variety of items, ranging from delicate jewellery and vivid batik textiles to historical papers and multimedia exhibits. I joined an English-speaking tour guide in the afternoon. The tour was inclusive, involving elderly participants as well. The guide was very engaging, and I was impressed by the stories shared in the museum and their dedication to preserving this heritage. Despite being a small museum, we all know its significance is much greater!

Charlie Hardwick
Really beautiful place and absolutely fascinating. I knew a little bit before I went, but it turns out, of course, that I knew hardly anything. Really beautifully curated. We loved the video on the ground floor with the people talking about their experiences and their life. Two small things – the video next to the jewellery and embroidery (with Raymond Wong) needs to have subtitles please. Couldn’t hear what they were saying. And I do think it needs a bigger more expansive shop. I would have loved to buy a magnet or keyring with the batik designs or pictures of the embroidery. Or t shirts or jewellery or literally anything. The shop there is v classy and expensive and doesn’t sell a huge amount suitable for a tourist like me. They are my only suggestions, otherwise I think this place is a must-visit when you’re in Singapore if you’re interested in the multiculturalism and social history of it.

Nghĩa Võ
The museum may be small, but it impresses with its collection of many old artifacts and various types of historical documents, including books and visual interaction systems. I was pleased to discover the meaning of ‘Peranakan’ and the history behind this region.

Customer Reviews

Michelle Lee
Impressive and astonishing experience. The emphasis on the history, evolution of music boxes, detailed explanations and the use of iPad to aid visitors’ understanding by the curator was over my expectations. Although we were not allowed to touch the music boxes, we were also given the opportunities to hold certain parts of the music boxes. Thanks for everything. This guided tour was certainly beyond my expectations, which the visit will be much less informative and engaging if without. My children also surprised to see harmonica, accordion and drum elements used in the music boxes, what an eye opening experience for them.

It was a enjoyable visit to the Musical Box Museum. I am surprised to learn about the variety of disc and cylinder types made with different materials. An eye opener for those who loves to learn more about musical boxes and ear opener for those who loves soothing musics! Thank you to our guide whom was friendly and knowledgeable. We learnt about music boxes and the history behind it.

Jessica Neo
The museum tour was immersive and educational! Really loved the vision that Minami-San shared about the museum! The workshop was also well-facilitated by Jason! Thank you SMBM! We had so much fun learning!

The staff at the front Miss Ani was super helpful! She guided us on how to purchase the tickets and how to navigate once inside. Loved her personality and her patience to help us through. Love the entire experience! A MUST visit! If you are lucky, you will be greeted by Miss Ani!

It was a fascinating walk through the history of toys. I never knew the Singaporean owner was such a passionate collector from a tender age of 7 and still collecting over 70 years! Highly recommend a visit or more!

I walked past the museum while walking towards Raffles City, and it piqued my interest. They have a quirky collection of rare toys that will fill you with a sense of nostalgia! I loved that each floor had a dedicated them for the characters/toys on display and got a history lesson about their origins. If you have some time and want to see something unique, I would definitely recommend visting. They’ve got a cafe on the rooftop and a bar in the basement if you’re looking for a drink or a bite to eat! PS: You’ll save $5 if you purchase the ticket online vs at the museum.

So many exhibits at the LKCNHM. Very underrated museum – more should definitely know about it. Learnt so much about the different organisms and plants on Earth and the dinosaur fossils were just a treat.

For any bio science geeks out there, it is recommended. Foreigner fee at SGD 27 and was worth it. Well kept thousands of plant and animal specimen for you to see. I went there by MRT to CC22 Kent ridge (University hospital) and take bus no.95 (pay) or D2 (free).
